03-16-08 Just a few short weeks left before the start of the 2008 fishing season. Flounder season opens 04-01-08 and our first sailing date is scheduled for 04-05-08. Work is underway to prepare the boat for the 2008 season, Spring is not far behind.Time to dust off the fishing gear and plan a trip. Give us a call while prime dates are still open, 203 792-2277. 11-30-2007 As always I am sorry to report the close of the 2007 fishing season for the Deborah Ann IV. The crew and I would like to thank all who rode with us this season and look forward to seeing you again in 2008. Our season in 2008 is scheduled to open on Saturday April 5th. Just a reminder, it is never to early to book a trip. Also, we have gift certificates available in any amount as well as our world famous Deborah Ann "Bring Your Lunch, Catch Your Dinner" tee shirts for Holiday gift giving. Just e-mail or call 203 792-2277 and we will be happy to take care of your requests. On that note, on behalf of the crew and myself we would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday season. Hope to see you soon. 10-04-07 Great job by the crew of 4 from Verizon engineering, headed up by Kevin "The "I" Man". Twilight trip produced non-stop bluefish action. Too many fish were caught to count, only 20 kept, the rest released to fight another day. Peter Torrente was "Hi-Hook" who lost track after 18. One drift lasted 45 minutes with fish coming over the rail non-stop.Great job! 08-20-2007 Bluefishing was Red Hot this past weekend. The Criag Krammer party of 3 caught their limit on a 4 hour afternoon trip. Fish were in the 4 to 8 pound range. Have been catching some nice fluke of late, all over the 19 1/2" size limit for NY, even though we have been fishing CT waters. We have some open weekend dates in Sept. Give us a call and come on down and have some fun. 203 792-2277. 07-20-07 Plenty of blues roaming around the western Sound. Catching on jigs and bait. Fluke fishing has also picked up this last week or so. Porgy bite is still a little slow, nice fish but not many of them.06-30-07 Some large bluefish in the middle, reel busters, for real. Got the fish in though via hand line and a net. Also, plenty of smaller school blues on the Long Island Bayville area, in close to the beach. Smaller fish, but still a lot of action. Give us a call and come out and join the fun. 11 pound blue still holding the heaviest fish contest lead. 06-06-07 The bite has finally started. Catching blues and stripers. Fluke are also starting to make an appearance. Tee shirt contest is in full swing. The group from Greenwich Capital held the bluefish record with a 7.5 pounder for only 48 hours before John See was awarded a world famous Deborah Ann IV, "Bring Your Lunch, Catch Your Dinner" tee shirt for an 11 pounder. Big bluefish for this time of year. Fish have arrived so give us a call and come on down. 04-01-07 The Deborah Ann IV is back in the water where all boats belong. We are making final preparations for the opener on Sat 04-07-07. Can't wait to get the lines back in the water. Some reports of a few schoolie bass around. Winter flounder season opens today in CT. Question is will the winter flounder co-operate this year? Give us a call 203 792-2277. 03-15-07 Welcome to SPRING! The Deborah Ann IV is scheduled to be afloat again in less then 2 weeks. Time to get the gear ready for opening day. First scheduled sailing date is Saturday April 7th. We are attempting to keep charter rates the same as last year and will do so unless fuel prices get out of hand. Weekends are starting to book, so if you have a date in mind please give us a call, 203 792-2277 or e-mail. It is never to early to book a date. Deposits aren't due until 14 days prior to the sailing date. 12-03-06 As usual, it is with regret that I have to announce the close of the fishing season for the Deborah Ann IV. Bluefishing started out strong in June, then slacked off a bit but picked up again big time late September and lasted thru are last trip in November. On the striper front, we had some nice keeper fish in the spring run but the fall run produced mainly short fish, under 28". However, there were tons of them. Probably the most "schoolie bass" that we have ever landed and released to date. Hopefully they will grow up for next season. Fluke were plentiful in June and July then the bite slowed. Fish didn't stay with us as long as we would have liked. All in all not a bad season at all. Lots of action on most of our trips. Unfortunately there are still some slow days, but that's fishing. On behalf of the crew, I would like to thank all that rode with us in 2006. Hope to see you all again in 2007. We would like to wish everyone a Happy and safe Holiday season. Just a short commercial note, remember we do offer gift certificates. Great gifts for the fishing or cruising family. Book now, pay later, call for details 203 792-2277. 11-11-06 Great job by the Torrente party of 6 who limited out on bluefish jigging on Friday. Most of the fish were in the 6 to 9 pound range. Mixed in with the blues were schoolie stripers, all between 18" and 24". Unofficial count was over 50 landed and released unharmed with the exception of the 2 that came up in half. Attacked by crazy bluefish no doubt. All in all a lot of action and a lot of bluefish fillets taken home.10-22-06 Long between reports but, fishing is still pretty HOT! Good job by the Palmer party of 4 hooked over 50 blues, kept their limit and released the rest. Also had over a dozen stripers, unfortunately none that could make it into the fish box. Congratulations to"Crow" who is are latest winner of the world famous Deborah Ann tee shirt. Yes, the blues are starting to be in October form. Not much time left, long winter will be here soon. If you want to get in on the action, give us a call 203 792-2277.10-02-06 Good job by the crew from Brie Electric from Poughkeepsie,N.Y. Team of 6 had nearly 50 blues and a couple of short stripers. Jigged some fish early then switched over to bait on the in coming tide and the action was steady for the rest of the afternoon. Blues are still the best bet for action. We still have a few weekend dates open. Season will be over before we know it, so if you would like to get a trip in before the long winter sets in, give us a call, 203 792-2277. 09-20-2006 BLUEFISH PANDEMONIUM on Tuesday, a group of engineers from Verizon all limited out on 4 to 6 pound blues in less then 2 hours fishing, then played catch and release for the rest of the trip. 6 or 7 stripers also in the mix as well. All where just under the 28" limit and released. High Hook honors went to Mr. Kei K. who managed to hook the most fish, as well as himself early into the flight. He kept fishing to the very end however, didn't miss a beat or a fish for that matter. Fishing is at the best it has been all season. Still time to come out and join the fun. Give us a call, 203 792-2277.09-10-06 BLUES,BLUES,BLUES, great weather, great fishing over the weekend. Fish up to 10 pounds, on jigs and bait both. Also, close to home, more fishing time. Reminder, Fish Tales 3rd Annual Bluefish tournament is this weekend. We have time slots open for Sunday. Come out and join the fun.08-27-06 Big weekend for bluefishing, WICC Tournament. Good job by the Al S. party nice catch of over 30 blues plus a bonus of 4 keeper fluke caught on chunks. Unfortunately none of the fish were large enough to get into the money. Speaking of tournaments, Fish Tales Bait and Tackle in Stamford is holding their 3rd annual Bluefish Tournament on the 16th and 17th of September. Entry forms are at the store and fee is $25. For details call the store at 203 325-4775.We still have a few open weekend dates in September, so if you want to get in on the action, give us a call, 203 792-2277.08-12-06 Bluefishing continues to be the best bet. Jigging has been the most productive method. Fish are in the 6 to 9 pound range. Also some smaller cocktail size schools running around. On the Fluke front, fish being caught are mostly keepers with some nice size fish mixed in. 07-30-06 Website is finally functioning again. To are 2 or 3 loyal readers Sorry for the delay, that is if you are still out there, server problems. Bluefishing has been good of late with a few stripers still in the mix. Fluke fishing has been great when conditions are right and the fish have been close to home. Less riding, more fishing time. A few weekend dates are still open in August. Season is moving right along so if you want to take a ride, give us a call (203 792-2277) and we will put you in the book. New shipment of Tee shirts has arrived. For those winners who we owe a shirt, they will be heading your way shortly. 05-13-06 I know, long time between reports. Bad news, good news. Lets get the bad news out of the way first. The flounder catch was slim again this year. Pretty much the same as it has been over the past too many years of late. Some nice size fish but not enough of them. Only positive was that there were some short fish mixed in. Maybe they will make a come back one day, who knows. Now for the good news. Stripers are in and fluke season is now open. The Deborah Ann IV will now target Striped Bass and or Fluke. There are also some reports of a few bluefish in the area. Bunker are starting to show, so the bluefish can not be far behind. Things are looking up. Weekends are starting to book so if you have a date in mind, give us a call. 203 792-2277. Just a note for the non fishing folks. This season we are offering 3 hour specially priced twilight cruise's for up to 6 people ($225). Lot of fun and a great way to beat the heat on a hot summer night. 04-20-06 Some flounder have been caught in the Oyster Bay area on the Long Island side. Fish size has been good and there are shorts mixed in which is a good sign. Things should pick up as the water temp rises. There have been some reports of bass in Cold Spring harbor as well. The CT side of the Sound hasen't shown much as of yet, but stay tuned. 04-01-06 The Deborah Ann IV is in the water and ready to go. Our first sailing date is this Saturday 04-08-06. We will keep you posted on the action, whatever it might be. If you are interested in booking a trip and have a date in mind, please give us a call and we can get you in the book. There are plenty of good dates open now, but can close up quickly. Call 203 792-2277 or e-mail if you would like to plan ahead. 03-12-06 Just a word to inform our 2 or 3 loyal readers that the Deborah Ann IV is now being made ready to be put back in the water in just over 2 weeks. The boat will be spruced up and ready to go by opening day Saturday, April 1, 2006. No April fools joke, opening of flounder season will be here shortly.
